Roots and salt side
Strange environment, so fragile and ecologically vital. This is the Mangrove. As both feet in the water but roots strongly attached to the earth.
These roots prevent erosion, serve as nursery for many animals species and filter water.
Paletuviers (Mangrove trees) put up with with a soil full of salt water.
It is not unusual to encounter an "aigrette neigeuse" (snowy egret bird). At the back of the mangroves, swamp forest caught in a vise between the salty soil downstream.
The forest which surrounded the hiking paths is made up mainly of "mangles médailles" (mangles medals trees)
